Iggy Maxwell is an anxious homebody who's never quite seen eye-to-eye with the concept of love. He just doesn't understand people. And people don't understand him. He should be content to plug away at his work and games in the safety of his little apartment for the rest of his days... right?
When one of his friends announces a Christmas party, though, things take a turn. Can he become Cinderella and find his prince at the party? Or is he doomed to spend the day bemoaning his fate in bed?
Our Cinderella is a winter fairy tale themed stat management sim / texting sim created for the Once Upon a Time and Winter VN jams. Help Iggy make it to the party and find love with one of his childhood friends!
Gameplay:
Play each day in the month of December leading up to the Christmas party. Have Iggy work, play games, or text his friends, all while managing his savings and social battery. If Iggy can purchase a complete party outfit and receive a sweet invitation from one of his friends before the day arrives, he'll be able to attend the party. But things can't just end there! Could heartbreak still await this sweats-to-suit Cinderella? Or might a happily ever after await him yet?

Characters:
The characters in Our Cinderella are from my game Our Wonderland; however, I consider this game non-canon to the main game timeline and completely standalone, with no need to know anything about the original to enjoy it. I think of it like a soft AU holiday treat. If you like the characters, though, and want to see them in a whole swath of horrible situations, feel free to check out the main game and other side games!

Thank you so much for making this game! I love it so much. For someone who struggle with anxious, I saw myself in Iggy. So much that it almost made my cry. I also love all the romance options!!
i finally played this (only 4 months late for the holidays) since the finale is coming out soon, and i'm really impressed by how much content you packed into a fairly small game. it really does have high replayability - i only finished gidget's route so far but i already feel like i should play through it again just to see all the texts. as for the story and characters, i feel like this game is the perfect opportunity to explore iggy's relationships with his friend group (in normal daily situations) that we didn't get in OW. while gidget's moments in OW were unpleasant in many many ways, and it was like that for a plot reason and meant to be taken seriously, it was really nice to see gidget just discussing their favorite actor with iggy, reminiscing about their childhood and overall just enjoying life. i feel like this is just what the series needed - a chance to get to know each character a little better, without all the horrors in the main game. as a side note i really liked all the different poses for iggy in his room and the soundtrack in this game was good as always, but especially the song when iggy works at his computer. alright my head is empty now, thank you for making this game and keep up the good work, can't wait for OW finale <3

A wonderful game! It's so interesting how gradually we learn new things about the characters, they're all so adorable! I fell in love with these characters! and the story made me both cry and rejoiceππ I also thought it was cool that there were different correspondences on different days, which means that different passages will be different! and all the art is so cute and cool, I've screened so much times!π
all the routs are the best! and the endings are so warm and comfortable... "stay in bed" no longer felt like a difficult condition and colored with love(//^.^//)β¨

EEEEE its been a while since i last touched one of your games and (hopefully) once i can get a break from school and other commitments i can go back to these games and play them to their fullest

I GOT SO EXCITED JUST ON THE START MENU??? WHEN ALL THREE OF THOSE BLORBOS CAME ON SCREEN WITH THEIR SMILES WITH THE SHOUJO MUSIC MY HEART JUST STARTED GOING DOKI-DOKI LIKE CRAZY???
This was so fun, with incredible replay value. I replayed all the routes three times before I got any repeating text conversations. The dialogue is SUPER lively. All of the characters have their own unique voice (that's different from their speaking voice and perfectly fits how they would text - apart from Genzou, whose speaking voice is his texting voice). I also loved the flowery, elegant, fairytale-esque prose of the narration (I imagined some fancy British man saying it tbh), and the differing styles between the narration and dialogue really sold the concept of a "light-hearted, modern fairytale."
There are so many details in this game that I simply couldn't list them all, but here are some things that I liked in particular. The animations are all FANTASTIC and oh-so-satisfying, particularly the start menu, the main gameplay menu, and the text interface. I loved the opening scene, as it gives a very wintery and magical, fairytale-like feel as Iggy stands in the white void, wondering where the future will take him. The day cards are SO dramatic and fun (with the sound effect). I loved how Iggy randomly takes different positions in the room depending on the day. When I saw the credits I AUDIBLY LAUGHED DFGDFGDFGDFGDFD WOW I DON'T BELIEVE IT, CARROT DID IT ALL?

I really love how the game was set up to tackle social anxiety in a realistic yet lighthearted and fun way. Iggy has a social battery, and you need to relax by yourself in order to charge it so that you can continue interacting with your friends. It's a really clever game mechanic and hilariously accurate. I also liked how there were random "anxiety attack" days where Iggy couldn't do anything but lie in bed; in addition to being a clever game mechanic, it really played into the theme - how easy it is to get overwhelmed and feel unable to do anything.
I really appreciated how the game tackled the "Cinderella" story and changed it to fit the themes. The main gameplay mimics what Cinderella went through leading up to the ball (finding a "dress," finding transportation - although Iggy needs the added "social battery" to go). On the second to last day before the party, if you've wooed your chosen partner enough, then Iggy (Cinderella) gets an invite to attend the ball from his prince. When he goes, he has a great time - until he feels overwhelmed and flees the scene, losing his shoe in the process. Between Christmas and New Year's, Iggy is able to do little else other than "Stay in bed," (which feels very impactful as you are only given one choice each day). And yet in the final scene, the prince doesn't find Iggy; instead, each of them gives Iggy space, and Iggy chooses to go find the prince. It's a really fitting twist to the Cinderella narrative that plays masterfully into the "overcoming anxiety" theme - on the dawn of the new year, Iggy overcomes his anxiety to go meet his prince for a private celebration and has a great time.
(I really loved how the "Dawn of the New Day" plays on the "Stay in bed" choice - except that you're staying in bed with your beau of choice this time).
I've put some of my thoughts about the different routes below (some of them are cohesive, but for the most part they're just random thoughts - this game is just JAM PACKED WITH DETAILS):
GIDGET
I really love how supportive Gidget was of Iggy at the start, and how comfortable and easy Gidget and Iggy's relationship is. Gidget is...well, compared to Genzou and Orlam, very normal in the text conversations. I like how normally Iggy is the straight man, but in his texts with Gidget, he's the silly one (at least some of the time).
I really loved how, in this reality, Gidget is comfortable with their identity and has made strides to connect with the local queer community. I also REALLY appreciated the detail that, in this timeline, Iggy has only come out to Gidget about his asexuality. I like to think that Gidget helped Iggy to figure himself out!
I love the little details, like how it's implied that Iggy and Gidget bonded over their shared interest in coding - this explains why Gidget is intimately familiar with all of Iggy's game dev endeavors and remembers all the games Iggy made.
GIDGET IS SO EXTROVERTED THEY'RE ALWAYS OUT
(I really liked what a good relationship Gidget has with their family in this reality, as it seems much more strained in the canon one.)

ORLAM
I really liked how, out of all the love interests, Iggy seems to view Orlam as a good confidant the most. It seems that he often goes to him for advice, and I believe that Orlam was the only one that Iggy approached just to rant about things. At the end of the day, Orlam is a very good listener who takes Iggy's worries seriously and gives sound advice.
I loved the "I Spy" game as it shows how well Orlam knows Iggy (as he is able to guess what he's thinking every time.)
DFGDGDFGFDGG ORLAM COMES ONTO IGGY SO HARD AND IN SUCH A SEXUAL MANNER but at the same time it's all in good fun

GENZOU
I found Genzou's route to be one of the most interesting out of the three because Our Cinderella seems to take place in a very "idealized world." Other than Iggy's social anxiety, everything else seems to be going well, particularly Gidget and Orlam's lives. Gidget is living as their best self, with a big group of friends, working a job they love. They have a good relationship with their family. Orlam similarly has a big social circle and goes out clubbing every night. During the day he runs a large, successful company where he calls the shots. Genzou's life, on the other hand, is pretty similar to the one he leads in OW. It makes me wonder what Genzou's endgame in OW will be; I see what Gidget and Orlam's "happy endings" look like, so I wonder what Genzou's will look like?
I really love the detail with how Genzou's texts feel a lot more "conversational" - they read more like an oral chat rather than a text one, likely because he's talking into some kind of voice recording app. He sends a lot of texts that he doesn't mean to send/includes a lot of texts where he's unsure/mumbling.
I like how, out of all the different convos, Genzou seems to have the only convos that feel truly "uncomfortable." Most of the convos are very relaxed, with a general good vibe and positive note. When Iggy jokes about wanting to go to Lapland, Genzou goes on an extended joke about Iggy getting together with some handsome, muscular guy. It's very out of the blue, and it seems that Iggy gets a bit uncomfortable with it. This joke is similar to comments that Genzou makes in OW, and it shows Genzou's sense of inferiority, his fear that he will never be someone who deserves Iggy. Similarly, when Iggy asks about Genzou's plans for the future, Genzou isn't sure of how to answer - he just wants to continue what he's doing. I wonder if you mainly see this kind of convo from Genzou because his are more like verbal conversations rather than texts where he can't "plan/edit" what he says (and, tying back into my previous thoughts - it does make me wonder how Genzou will overcome these insecurities in OW, if he hasn't overcome them in this idealized reality).
(I loved the "smash or pass" conversation. It's very crude in a Genzou way, but at the same time it reads as Genzou's genuine attempt to learn about Iggy's boundaries and what he does/doesn't like. Even though Iggy hasn't come out to Genzou about his identity here, it seems that Genzou is aware and accepting.)

FANCY BRITISH MAN NARRATION LMAO I did really want the narration to have this storybook-esque floaty magical kind of quality to it. I guess to tie it all up in a fairy tale bow I guess. AND SOB THANK YOU FOR THE KIND WORDS ABOUT THE ANIMATION. This game had a lot of first times for me, not only in setting up a bunch of functionality I'd never done before but also in trying to make the GUI itself feel very lively and immersive animation-wise. I spent so much time getting stuff to work (and then had to redo it all when I realized I had done the image buttons in a not-very-good way LOL). I normally don't have a lot of confidence when it comes to my GUI and general design-related stuff but I'm overall pretty happy with how it turned out here and I had a lot of fun with it, so I'm really happy to hear you say that ππ

Like more down to earth in a way. Part of me was worried it would be a turn-off maybe (especially since Gidget's route also feels the most platonic until it gets to the end), but I've been really happy in that actually a lot of people have liked Gidget's route and their dynamic with Iggy.
"I like how normally Iggy is the straight man, but in his texts with Gidget, he's the silly one (at least some of the time)." --> YES LSKJDFALKDSF I really enjoy how these two's dynamic turned out. I see them in general as the two that would be the most open and just casual around each other because of their history, so I felt like Iggy would be the most silly and unhinged in his own way around Gidget. AND YES SOB I'M HAPPY YOU MENTIONED IT ABOUT IGGY'S COMING OUT TO THEM like. I see Gidget in this timeline as being the most comfortable in their own identity and outwardly like, part of the queer community, and probably they talked to Iggy a lot about it, too, which is what then helped Iggy feel comfortable talking about his own insecurities and identity with them. Since Iggy in general isn't the type to just... say these types of things on his own to someone, but with Gidget it came out naturally. But with the other two it wouldn't be something he'd just come out and say despite him being close to them, too. In fact, Iggy wants to come out to Genzou at one point but can't quite, because his dynamic with Genzou feels different to him and he's anxious about it (even though a part of him knows it would be fine). Maybe part of me was wanting to explore my own thoughts and insecurities about how it feels easy to come out to some people and not to others not because of any lack of connection or closeness with people but simply because it's a very anxiety-inducing thing that's hard to approach. (Though Orlam doesn't need him to come out because he guesses already lakdjfasd)

As always, I'm not sure I was actively thinking about that when working on it, but it's kinda how it turned out with the types of convos and topics. Maybe it's because Iggy and Orlam are the most different from each other, so Iggy naturally feels like Orlam must know a lot of things about everything that Iggy himself doesn't know. That and Orlam is always just so brimming with confidence and has no problem dealing with people, both of which are things Iggy lacks. So he feels very reassured when he asks Orlam for advice (and I think in a way some of Orlam's confidence also influences Iggy, because Iggy then becomes a bit more assertive around Orlam, as well, since he kinda has to be LMAO).

Yeah, I would say that Genzou is the least changed out of all of them compared to the main game. Maybe this was partly due to how much I knew the others needed to change in order to reach a better state so it was a big focus and I was actively thinking about their Ideal Lives and it just changed so much about their environments and general outlooks. But with Genzou I didn't really have that going into it. He was mostly just... the same Genzou... except that he wasn't such an absolutely jerkface asshole in his youth (likely because he actually got called out on it more, etc.) so the friend dynamic didn't turn toxic and instead stayed more in lighthearted banter rather than outright antagonism between him and Orlam, etc. Because of that when I wrote him he mostly stayed the same with a lot of his already present challenges leaking over.
Sob I also liked how you pointed out that his felt more like verbal convos. I'm not even sure if I actively thought about that while writing them but because in my head I pictured Genzou talking instead of typing (as opposed to the others where my head stayed in texting mode) that was probably the biggest influence LKDFJALSDKFA Genzou already has a big problem with saying things he doesn't mean to/letting his mouth run in general, so the combination of him also then having no edit/plan-type filter in his texts makes this doubly worse (both in the sheer annoying-ness of his texts/extended jokes he can't stop and in his tendency to say things he wishes he could take back lol).

AAHH THIS WAS THE CUTEST THING EVER !! I could tell that so much love was put into this game, from the different art of Iggy in his room (my personal favorite was the burrito blanket LOL) to the beautiful story sequences to the witty and endearing text conversations. Iggy as a character felt relatable, and it really had me rooting for him till the end. :D
I also really enjoyed his exchanges with Orlam and I was laughing through a lot of them. The after-credits scene was so cute too AAAAA!! I was overall super invested in this game and it was a super enjoyable experience! Amazing job Carrot!!

I loooved seeing Iggy chill all around his room especially adore burrito Iggy π₯Ί The fairy tale intro for a modern ace boy is just so fun! And the contrast of personalities from the hotshot business man always out around town to the shut-in programmer who games all day is just delightful
All the phone convos are incredibly charming and the best kind of chaotic, it feels like a little party talking to everyone even from Iggy's room! I really enjoyed the criminal driver landlord backstory, hearing (seeing text?) of Iggy venting about his boss, and just asking for help with life stuff like cooking spaghetti. And omg that note that came with the hat!!! >///<
In my first playthrough I totally forgot about having energy left for the party and I was way too focused on working to get money, talking to everyone, and getting the new game hahaha XD
Second playthrough went to the party with Ortam! I am totally with Iggy about the loud music being way too much. Your use of the social battery to tell Iggy's story perfectly suits him! It's super neat how the player needs to manage Iggy's energy every day to be able to unlock the character stories they want, makes me want to play again and again!

Putting a placeholder comment here atm because i haven't been able to get to O.C. yet but i very much intend to play it at some point (and just dl'ed it) so this is my way of saying im excited to see more of OW's characters and i WILL edit this with an update when i get to play it!Got to play the Orlam route today (bc that's all i had time for ahfhjgfhj) and I gotta wonder, is this an AU of OW where nothing bad ever happens and thus the main cast gets to live much more normal lives than their OW canon ones? Because I noticed Orlam seems to be more confident + settled in his work/flirtations/making outside friends (tho, granted, i did get the feeling there could potentially be fakery and im just gullible for him and his words jhghghg) than he is in OW and if this is how he's like if OW never happened is just,,,, he's such a neat funny little guy and his fancy word texts with Iggy are so funny to read.
Also that Cinderella story at the party LMAO that is such a wrong retelling of Cinderlla i was laughing at that
and then!! Iggy!!! Iggy's social anxiety is very relatable and i kind of felt bad for him several times during this. the one with the "he's worrying about saving money for retirement" is such a mood to have and him having to charge his social battery is also Very relatable lol.

I'm so happy you were able to play though!! π lkdajflakdsfa it's... hmmm... I don't wanna say too much because technically in my head I do kinda tie it back to the main game but in a way that gives away a whole bunch π€£ So yeah for now I'm just saying this is like, a non-canon AU timeline of what the chars would be like if many of the horrors never happened so to speak. That's not to say that everything is perfect and nothing bad ever happened (like clearly Orlam's family issues are the same, Iggy is still plagued by anxiety, etc.) but like. Hmmm. Some of the things that could be made better by the main five themselves made things better, for instance Gidget being accepted by their friends and not torn down by Iggy led to them having more confidence to be themself and push back against their family a bit, Genzou not being such a horrible person to Orlam as kids helped Orlam still grow up with confidence despite his family issues, etc. Is kind of how I see this whole timeline in general lkdajfad
So yes, while Orlam certainly still has a penchant for grandiloquence, fakery, and elaborate lies, it's more in good nature here and a part of his personality rather than like... something actively harmful like it is in the main game. That and he also actually has confidence, friends, a social life, etc., in this version, which is basically his best self.
Sob I'm very glad you liked him though!! He and Gidget were the ones that underwent the most positive evolutions in this game and I just really loved writing them as what are their true selves in my mind and having a lot of fun with them (and being incredibly off the rails at times, too). I'm happy you liked Iggy, too. Iggy didn't change all that much to be honest, at least in his general vibe and approach to life, though this version of him at least has been able to find himself more (though it only comes up in Gidget's route, he at least knows he's ace in this timeline and has already come to terms with himself). He's also just generally on better terms with his friends since the friend group stayed much more in contact in this version, even if he himself has a hard time always keeping up lkadsjflkasd π€£

ROCKIN AS USUAL OMFG. The randomized text convos make this game super fun to replay. Even if you're going for the same route, you'll get different conversations with that character each playthrough. I'm kind of obsessed with this, it's just such a clever idea and so fun to play! The stat-management part was challenging for me, but I have figured out a strat that works for my purposes (lots of savescumming involved lol... countdowns make me anxious so I gotta make all the money and buy Iggy's clothes IMMEDIATELY or I'll faint.) Overall what I'm trying to say is this game is really well-made and it feels like there is so much to do and discover!
Minor spoilers beyond this point~
I played Orlam's route twice before doing the others. I'm so happy for him!! Live your relationship anarchist lifestyle, rat boy! π€ And I love that he is the only LI foreward enough to straight-up tell Iggy that he likes him, no stuttering about it. Iggy and Orlams' QPR is everything to me. I was especially unexpectedly touched by the moment over text where Iggy is like "I guess I don't have a problem saying no to you!". Like he trusts him enough to know Orlam will listen, and also that Orlam won't stop being his friend over it. I love how Iggy becomes more assertive when next to Orlam. And I like to think Iggy makes Orlam feel safe and beloved for who he is and not any particular mask he wears. They are always saying "I don't understand you" to each other but it's the effort they make to listen and care for each other and respect those differences that matters. Augh! Literally I just. Luv them. π₯Ί Great job constructing these chars and their relationships!
Sidenote: That group text convo between Gidget, Iggy, and Orlam is doing WONDERS for my Gidget/Cecil/Orlam OT3. I know this was not remotely the point of the game but. Well. :)

Somehow that thought appealed to me a lot π€£ In perhaps an ideal world with a much longer dev cycle I might have been able to add even more convos and random hidden stuff but I hit a bit of writing block at about 15-16 convos each and figured that would still be plenty to give lots of variety. Maybe if I end up coming back to this later I could amp it up even more with more events and convos lkadjfa
SOBBING I'M GLAD YOU ENJOYED ORLAM'S ROUTE I shall weep. His route is literally so off the rails, but I'm really happy with how his and Iggy's dynamic turned out, I just love them so much lakfdja In general, I really tried (and hoped) that not only would I be able to make the chars' personalities shine through the texts but also make each relationship feel different like in their dynamics and also in the way that Iggy acts just a bit different around each of them based on that dynamic. Hearing that you enjoyed the Orly QPR dynamic is making my eyes well up lakdjfasdf GUHHHH. They are very precious to me. That even though they are probably the most different in terms of personalities and lifestyles they still find each other as a comfort.

I was gonna write until I was done with the game but couldn't wait! At the start of the game Iggy is bummed out about taxes and life, so he stays in the bed all day. Throughout the game when Talking to other characters he seems happier. Even when I chose to work, it said he feels good about it. That just made my heart flutter. I love all the little details you put Carrot! Also the interactions are cute and funny, I just really love how your characters feel alive. I freaking LOVE Orlam! AHHHH! ONE MORE THING I really find it so so cute that at the end of each route you get a little picture of them sharing a bed like awe and then you got the "stay in bed" option WHICH WAS PREVIOUSLY ASSOCIATED WITH ANXIETY (so something bad) BUT NOW IT'S ASSOCIATED WITH LOVE SO IT'S GOOD AND KJBFASJBJCKB I'M SO HAPPY I'M SOBBING and also the fact that each of them mention Iggy being asexual and having a little something to say about it (all positive of course :D), like Genzou being extra supportive and nice and accepting it right away, Orlam saying that he doesn't expect anything from Iggy if Iggy doesn't want to do it, and Gidget saying "you don't have to be ace to be confused about romance" JSKSJKSNS I LOVE THEM ALL THE ACCEPTANCE FROM EVERYONE FEELS LIKE A BIG WARM HUG
Now about Orlam's route
It was very fun (though ORLAM YOU AND YOUR SEX JOKES MY GOD) and nice 'cause yeah while Genzou and Iggy together is my favourite I still do very much enjoy the dynamics with Orlam and Gidget !
I love the way Orlam talks LIKE IT'S FANCY and a bit POECTIC and that's COOL but ALSO SOMETHING ELSE MAYBE THAT I CAN'T PLACE A WORD ON ??? BUT YEAH I REALLY LIKE THAT.

I wanted it to be slightly different between all the LIs simply because their dynamic is so different?? Like, I knew I wanted Iggy to already be out to Gidget, since it just seemed like something that would have happened in this timeline what with Gidget also being very out and active in the queer community, which would have made Iggy a lot more comfortable talking about it with them. With Orlam, Orlam is so good at reading people that he's able to guess even without Iggy telling him. And with Genzou, Iggy feels awkward and weird bringing it up just in normal conversation because it's not the type of thing they typically talk about, but even though he's not able to say it outright, they kinda dance around it and Genzou ultimately understands even in not so few words and is accepting of it. (I think this also kinda meshes with the 3 LIs involvement/experience in LGBTQIA+ spaces, with Gidget being super active in the RL queer scene, attending events, going to meetups, getting involved; Orlam being well versed in it particularly from an online perspective but not being incredibly active in RL; and Genzou despite being out to his friends and family is much more private about it and also isn't involved in much of anything online and definitely not in RL besides occasionally trying some dating apps and forums).

THIS WAS SOOOO AMAZING!!! I absolutely loved it! Nearly all the other side games have them suffering in some way, shape, or form so this was a very nice change of pace.
The art was wonderful as usual! It must've talked a while considering just how many sprites and background and mini CGs you must've drawn, and I really commend that.
The music was also very nice aisjshsj definitely a shojo vibe. xD The menu theme kinda took me out at first but in the best way possible, like "wow Carrot really went all out on this"!
The gameplay was also great, the stat management provided a challenge which kept me engaged, but it wasn't too difficult and I managed to get all the endings without messing up (though there were a few times where Iggy would just stay in bed for like 3 days straight which would cause me to panic a bit). I actually wonder what happens if you don't meet a requirement before the party? Does Iggy just not go? Game over? Hmm I'll have to test that later, and also test what happens if you don't text anyone at all (I am a madlad).
BUT OF COURSE, THE REAL MEAT OF IT ALL — THE STORY!!! Oh my gosh, I loved it. All the different routes were uniquely wonderful and I enjoyed all of them immensely ajsusbjs. Though surprisingly I feel like Gidget's might've been my favorite? Genzy is my favorite ship, and Orlam is my favorite character, so I didn't expect to like their route that much more, but tbh I liked how kinda chill it was! It was a nice breather after dealing with Genzou's shart jokes and Orlam's... escapades (don't get me wrong, I enjoyed both of those as well but holy shit did they make my brain feel like it was melting at times). WELL, CHILL EXCEPT FOR THE TIMOTHY OLEPHANT INTERMISSION, GIDGET WHAT THE FUCKβ
Anyways, uh, I felt like compiling a "small" list of all my favorite moments from the chats:
- Genzou's mom!!! Gosh that whole entire chat with them was sooo cute from the Treenzou to Genzou's mom taking his phone to the PICTURES AWWWWWWW... Idk it was just so sweet seeing Genzou be so soft and pleasant around his mom compared to how he usually is, I loved it.
Also if you saw my ask about her, no you didn't.- THE FUCKING MBTI MENTION HOLY SHIT THAT TOOK ME OUT??? It was probably nothing to most people but to a certified typology nerd like me that felt like them acknowledging some kind of holy texts. But uhh anyways yeah that was, something. I'm not gonna go deep into it since again, I'm a typology nerd so you will most likely not understand anything I'm saying, but it was quite a nice surprise. :3
- Genzou "mistyping" an emoji/emoticon for the second time... Genzou c'mon man.
- Honestly most of Orlam's messages were entertaining to me in some way. Maybe it's because I'm in love with him or maybe it's because they were the most unhinged. Who knows. Probably both.
- Orlam eating his Switch???

- ORLAM REFERENCING EVANGELION...
- JERRY BEING REAL??? I know this game is non-canon and all but the thought of human!Jerry being coworkers with Orlam is so amusing to me.
- Also the chat with Archibald II, it was sooo cute!!! I especially liked when he became so distraught that he went onto AO3. I appreciate his dedication, I mean, it is very hard to use a glossy screen with fluffy paws. I wonder what fandoms he's in?
- Also also I somehow didn't get a single anxious day while playing Orlam's route??? In fact I think his arc went the best for me as I managed to get way more chats in before the party. Maybe it was just a blessing from him for helping him get on the sexyman wiki LOL.
- The aforementioned Timothy Olephant intermission. Gidget's chats have been so calm up to that point that the sudden craziness threw me for a total loop. ALSO. DID YOU TAKE THE REACTION PIC I SENT YOU FROM THAT ONE ASK??? AJSJSBJSJSJS I feel like I'm making that out to be a way bigger deal than it should be, but I don't know, it felt kinda pleasantly surprising to see it there (though I am a bit worried, considering the drawing isn't mine and I don't know who it belongs to, you might have to find the artist and put them in the credits... PLEASE DON'T HAVE A PANIC ATTACK OVER THIS CARROT I'M SURE IT'S NOT THAT BIG A DEAL I KNOW HOW YOU ARE AIAJSJJSJS but still I think it's worth looking into). I guess I can't really judge Gidget that hard though, because this is probably how I sound like talking about Orlam, though usually I hold back a bit because I don't wanna annoy people/get judged for my strange tastes. π¦
- Also that one convo with Gidget about Iggy's height made me think the LIs have a secret group chat where they all gush about Iggy. I highly doubt this is true considering Genzou and Orlam would probably still find a way to argue and ruin everything, but the thought is highly amusing.
- Also I loved how wholesome Gidget's family was??? I know you said this is a non-canon timeline where
noless bad stuff happens but seeing them be so freely accepted by their parents was nice. All the shenanigans with Gertie were especially amusing sjsisbsjwn.- IGGY BEING A FANFIC WRITER. Please that event was hilarious jaisjsjsnekenjw it took me so out! But it was also very cute and kinda relatable. xD
- And speaking of Iggy, tbh I already kinned him hard before this game but I think this game just solidified that even more. There were so, so many moments that I found relatable that I'm not even gonna bother trying to list them. ToT
Anyways all of this is to say I enjoyed the shenanigans a lot!!! In fact I may or may not be replaying the game right now just to see all the possible chats and stuff.
Oh, and I wanted to ask about this even pre-release but was holding back in case you'd remove it or something...
Is that a code? Like, a code you can input somewhere in the game to get... I don't know unlimited money and social battery or something. Or is it just some random text? I tried inputting it in a bunch of places but none of them did anything.

The art in particular was one of the things I thought wouldn't end up taking long at all because of the gameplay BUT THEN IT JUST KEPT GETTING MORE AND MORE AND MORE AND... well. Yeah. But I'm really happy with how it all turned out and the vibe and everything, so I regret nothing π€£π¦ And the music was so different from the normal type of music I use so it took me a long time of searching for and listening to stuff until I could find the exact type of vibe I wanted for all the different scenes.

I liked the game, I just played it yesterday while I was talking with a friend who downloaded it before me. We laughed, joked, and talked about the dialogue with the characters. So many references, humor, and a lot to learn about the characters.

ive only played genzou's route because that man holds my heart but the text convos were so silly and lovely? and we get to meet his mom?? so cute. i love their new years scene and the post-credit scene made me cry they are adorable and deserve the world.
i did manage to get to the party with a full social battery and about $50 extra so the rng treated me very well, i'd say it was a balanced amount of challenging for me, as someone who is not good at resource management.
will replay different routes later. or just replay genzou's another few times because what a guy.

The RNG can make it quite easy sometimes but trickier others. I always hope it won't be too frustrating LOL but at the same time didn't want to make it so easy it feels pointless haha

THIS IS A LESSON IN CODING I AM NOT KIDDING I WAS FLABBERGASTED BY HOW WONDERFULLY YOU CRAFTED AND ASSEMBLED EVERYTHING I HOPE YOU'RE PROUD OF YOU BECAUSE THIS REALLY WAS WELL-DONE AND YES I'M WRITING IN CAPS BECAUSE I'M SO IMPRESSED

Okay, to put it in a less chaotic manner, I really appreciated the comic-book approach combined with the texting one. It was a really interesting way to narrate the story of this game: while the texting helped keeping things joyful and light-hearted, the comic-style scenes, by contrast, managed to be more emotional and dramatic. The numerous illustrations, always of high calibre and quality, made this game feel like a really rich and even premium experience!
I also appreciated a lot the character-writing around Iggy. It's quite difficult to detail as I would need to spoil, but I appreciated the authenticity of the portrayal of Iggy's social anxiety, and even its impact on gameplay. The randomised "event", to avoid any specific description, and the endings, of course, reminded me of my own past (and sometimes present) struggles with social anxiety, and... it really rang true and authentic.
But of course, you didn't only make an emotional game but also a hilarious one! The reference to a certain game of the Zelda series made me scream out of laughter., and of course, I can't ignore the texts, the many CGs here and there, the wonderful amount of discussions (that I haven't completely explored yet, of course), which participated in making the game light-hearted, despite the looming shadow of Iggy's anxiety. Also, just... BUCKS. BUCKS. I'M NOT GOING TO SPOIL HER JOKES AS THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO BE DISCOVERED BUT OH MY GOD IT WAS UNHINGED AND I LOVED IT
The endings all felt earned and emotional: obviously, having played the main series, I'm quite attached to all these characters, and am happy to see them in a happy cosy setting. But I do think that, even for new players, these endings will feel emotional, as they are well-written, and the result, game-design wise, of a connection we spent the whole game establishing: this was an interesting choice in narrative design, and really contributed to the story.
Finally, I enjoyed the stats management part of the game! I'm quite fond of the genre to be honest, but I appreciated shaping Iggy's life and trying to figure out how to combine everything to have him ready. You managed to keep it beginner-friendly while still punishing mistakes (for example, buying the Kirby plushie thinking I could use it everytime.................................): so you found a good balance between accessibility and not making it unchallenging (the "random events" contribute to making it harder too).
Overall, Carrot, I'm genuinely impressed you managed to put all this together in a few months! The music tracks were perfectly chosen, the GUI AMAZING, the writing was touching and yet funny, the art was gorgeous and in great quantity... This was an amazing game!!!!!! Hope you have great holidays!!!

GOD the coding was really so pieced together. Some of it I still look back at even now and I'm like..... wait... how did... what is... LKDJFADSA it's rather spagetti-like, I have to admit π¦ But at least I somehow made it work in the end after much experimenting and trial-and-error π€£
I'm glad you appreciated all the stuff about Iggy. I feel like in general for this game I got to go a lot more in-depth with him just regarding daily life stuff and general thoughts and worries (outside of the horrors and regretful past stuff that was so much of the center of OW), so I'm glad if people can enjoy seeing some parts of him that I haven't really had much of a chance to show before (and the others, as well, but since Iggy was so front and center, it feels like the most for him). Well, his anxiety did also come up in the main game, but perhaps not as much of a focus and more through the lens of everything else that was going on rather than just life in general kdjafsda
I'M VERY HAPPY YOU ENJOYED ALL THE HUMOR. Some of the scenes and/or convos as I was working on them I was literally like HELP PEOPLE ARE GONNA BE SO WEIRDED OUT and especially a lot of the random weirdness or references. I'm glad you also enjoyed the stat management stuff!! As it was my first time making anything like this, so much of it was just trial-and-error and trying to figure out stuff that would work and then getting feedback to help try and make sure it felt both fun and not too challenging but also not TOO easy. It was a ton of fun working on something that was so new to me. In the future maybe I'll try to make something in the same vein but even more complex or something haha

ah, i think it's possible to have some unlucky playthroughs where getting the good ending becomes impossible if rng is unkind to you and iggy has too many bad mental health days (in one playthrough i think i had 4 in a row), but since the game is short it's not really an issue. plus, getting a couple of bad ends means you can replay and see more of the fun phone convos, so it might be a bonus actually haha
i didn't think this would be so challenging, i did fail a few times before i was able to succeed...
but that made the good ending even cuter!

LOL yes... there's a ton of randomness to it so there are chances where you could either have an extremely easy playthrough and a harder playthrough based on how many anxiety days you have as well as how much money you make, etc. π€£ After some feedback, I did try to make it err more on the easy side as I'd rather players have more too-easy playthroughs than too-hard, but there's definitely a chance that you could end up getting some especially tricky ones every now and then because of the RNG...π¦

The game is just as lovely as I anticipated! The illustrations are all so lively, and the amount of poses Iggy has in his room is honestly astounding. It's super impressive how much you've been able to get done for this game and I've loved seeing the updates posted for it. Each of the characters shine brightly of personality and charm-- it's akin to venturing into the light fixtures section of a hardware store.
(Unrelated to my main thoughts on the game though, I love the vernacular used, I haven't seen some of the vocabulary exercised here in quite a while haha.)

I dove right into this because I know the level of polish in your games at this point, and it gave me all I wished for and more <3
The intro already pulled on my heartstrings, as someone who also identifies as ace and finds a lot of comfort in fairytale-inspired writing. I took so many screenshots while playing because there was an abundance of witty character writing and so many cute visual details (like Iggy having Oswald by his side while reading?? I am slain. Deceased.). I really can't pick a favourite route between Genzou and Gidget, both were super sweet and brought their own kind of charme! I think I might be relating to Gidget a bit too much because I'm also the type to get lost in the woods in search of Adult Hogs. And I was half-prepared for Orlam's route to include some kind of toxic twist, just on account of how overt some of his dialogue is, but even THAT was surprisingly wholesome. Kudos!
Above all, this game made me want to be... brave, weirdly enough? Because if someone as anxiety-ridden as Iggy can give love a chance, then I feel like I can do the same. Maybe life isn't about minimizing the fear, but about living with it and doing the scary thing anyway. And that is a pretty profound message to get across in a jam game. <3

The micro-managing aspect is very cool, and with great replay value, too! There are so many things you just physically can't discover on a single playthrough. I also really love how the fairytale element has been incorporated into the game, starting with the stylized storytelling and ending with the shoe thing. (what a clever idea π€)
But! for me, the true highlight is the conversations. They're fun and relatable, with lots of little nods to OW and great humor (even the end credits gave me a good chuckle). The three routes (and endings) are all different in their own ways so it's hard for me to pick a favorite. π« π You need to play each. For flavor. (side note, i literally gasped when i saw the New Year's scene for the first time ππ they're all so sweet and cozy π₯°)
The art is just adorable! The sheer number of different poses Iggy has is a treat in itself. (my personal favorite is the blanket-cocoon, i can't get over how cute it is π₯°) And a special mention to the room background, you've outdone yourself with all the little details and gaming references. But honestly, it's all lovely! And Iggy is so cute! π
Overall, had a great time playing! It's such a fun and magical little game. π
